NRL and NAECI

The evolution of our NAECI solution

On traditional NAECI sites subcontractors are responsible for managing their own workers. This can add complexity when the main contractor wants to ensure an important communication is delivered in a consistent way to all workers on site, or if a new process needs to be followed by everyone involved in the project.

NRL’s past experience has also shown that it can lead to groups of workers having a different experience whilst engaged on the project – such as less understanding of their terms of engagement or what pay and expenses they can expect to earn. Creating divisions and unhappy workers.

That’s why we developed our NAECI solution - creating a consistent customer journey during recruitment and mobilisation on to the project, demonstrating equal opportunity for all, supporting ED&I across the project, minimising industrial relations risks through consistency and compliance. We work closely with each subcontractor to help with manpower planning and flow onto the project, whilst ensuring every worker is employed and engaged in the same way and given exactly the same messages - with a dedicated onsite team for day-to-day queries.

This leaves the main contractor to manage the construction build, knowing their subcontractors have all the support they need and NAECI industry regulations are upheld across the supply chain.

What our clients say

"At Tecnicas Reunidas we were aware of the complexity of the NAECI working rule agreement and the impact it could have on our subcontractors if they didn’t have prior experience working on NAECI projects. We were keen to maintain a high level of productivity and good industrial relations on the project, so were pleased to be able to utilise NRL’s extensive NAECI expertise to establish a compliance service. Their project team worked well with our subcontractors who were inexperienced in working under NAECI, helping with their introduction onto the project. They conducted competency checking prior to the mobilisation of the workforce and assisted in the induction process onto the site which helped improve the flow of workers onto the project. "

Tony Lloyd, Tecnicas Reunidas

"NRL always take the time to fully understand the requirements for each of our roles even from the initial phone call, which makes our partnership with them so trustworthy. "

Peter Williams, Exyte Hargreaves

"Being new to engaging workers under NAECI regulations we found the support and advice NRL provided invaluable. By working together, with NRL providing payroll and on-site support, we could ensure operations remained fully compliant."

Ian Manby, Pridamach

"Siemens Energy engaged NRL to support with our prestigious Keadby2 project. We wanted to work with a company which shared our commitment to providing opportunities for employment on the project to the local community and understood the NAECI working rule agreement. We were aware it was likely we would engage with our trusted suppliers and sub-contractors from previous projects who may not have been exposed to the agreement. NRL worked closely with our subcontractors to ensure they were compliant, assisting with payroll, industrial relations and site mobilisations. NRL helped ensure we minimised labour issues on the project which allowed us to keep to tight construction schedules. The NRL team based on site have been helpful, courteous and always prepared to meet new challenges, such as the global pandemic, with dedication and where appropriate innovation."
